Our partners from SEMCO Maritime - Denmark, MWSC - Maldives and GPD - Sri lanka had visited Seoul for discussion with Korean EPC, engineering & consulting company and power utility regarding the construction of Global Power, Gulhi Falhu in Maldives on 03 April 2013.
The project will consist of a solar power 3 MWe with desalination of seawater in Gulhi Falhu combined with a Diesel Power of about 10 MWe and shall be completed for construction until the end of 2014. Second phase of the project will be an expansion of HFO Diesel or LNG Power with a capacity of about 70 MWe and connected the island in Male region by a subsea cable. The 2nd phase of construction is scheduled to be completed until the end of 2016.
GPD is the developer of the Global Green City, Gulhi Falhu Lagoon which was formed in April 2010 after signing a concession agreement with the Government of the Maldives to reclaim and develop the City. Gulhi Falhi once reclaimed will have a total of 2,500 housing units and golf courses, hotels, shopping malls, parks, entertainment, and other facilities.
SEMCO have completed more than 50 cogeneration power plants world wide and been awarded the contract with STELCO for the upgarde of Male Power Plant in Maldives.
MWSC is a Goverment owned company and being the operation and mainternance of water supply and sewage system in the Maldives. It has been agreed that offtaker for electrocity and water for supply to consumers in Gulhi Falhu will be made with a company like MWSC.
GPD had a meeting with Korean suppliers for the construction equipment and built-in product to be required in the construction of the City. GPD had a discussion with IBE Corporation to develop a wind farm and LNG power plant in the Sri Lanka.
